What I’m up to Now
“Work”#
- Retired. Open to part-time engagement on software projects.
- Living on iPad Pro 11" with a Magic Keyboard as my main computer.
- Using iPad Pro + GitHub codespaces as a pretty satisfying dev setup.
- Using a headless Mac Mini as an “escape hatch” for anything that requires a Mac. It hosts Docker containers for servers and some vscode dev containers.
- Dabbling in various software development areas new to me. Golang, some web development, AI.
- Creating this voidstar.org site. Slowly.
Life#
- One kid in college and one applying for a college. The nest is already feeling a bit more empty. It’s bittersweet, but we’re looking forward to our next phase of the family.
- Pampering our standard poodle.
- I exercise regularly and watch my nutrition, roughly aiming to balance the two. Unlike my younger years, I’m succeeded more than failing. Though just barely. It’s a daily challenge.
Reading/Listening/Viewing#
- Reading a few Brandon Sanderson books.
- Podcasts in regular rotation: The Vergecast, MBMBaM, The Adventure Zone, What Went Wrong, 20,000 Hz.
- YouTube: various explainers on Golang. Or AI. Or city planning (I know, that one surprised me too).
Based on Derek Sivers’s suggestion of a now page.
